Baru semalam nonton Gran Turismo and feels like I can not get over it!
Suka banget, walaupun not into mechanical side of sim-racing game (I played GT couple times during childhood and adulthood) - the story, the pacing, the effect, the acting is just mwah. Gak nyangka kalau ini cerita tentang living legend yang seumur gue bahkan, this movie came in the right time when I need mental boost in many parts of life.
Baru sekali ini juga nonton Archie Madekwe and he is become my crush next to Nam Joo Hyuk and Keanu Reeves. The story centered on this young Jann Mardenborough who falls in love with racing but never got a chance to live his dream. This is a story about tenacity and grit of someone who is nobody, without privilege to be in the racing sports.
I also can not believe the director is the guy behind District 9 and Chappy - both I really loved.
Dari nonton GT ini, gue ngerasa vibe yang mirip sama Ford and Ferrari - tapi kayak heroic sports movie gitu. And I gain a lot of insights from this movie that I will carry with me (SPOILER ALERT):
- It inspires me to do more. Life is hard, life is not fair, we can not choose our background, family, etc. But life sometimes about how we make out of it.
Jann is only a guy with a dream and passion in racing. He had one shot through the GT Academy and he made the most out of it. He was unexperienced but he determined to show more.
I really relate with his journey in racing and reflect to my entrepreneurial journey. I did not know anything about making skincare, so I learned. Even I fail multiple times. But look how far I've been. Isn't that amazing?
- Loving Jann's spirit is not out of fear - but to challenge himself for how far he can go.
- Some of our mistakes in the past will still haunt us no matter how hard we try to make amends. The most noble thing that we can do is by forgiving ourselves, apologize to those who we hurt the most, and prevent ourselves not to repeat the same mistakes again.
- Every one was once a newbie. Turn that impostor syndrome energy into a healthy energy and focus to keep progressing.
